Class of 1989 - Minico High School Reunion Details

Dear Classmates:

The time is drawing near for our summer high school reunion. We’ve recently been in touch with some of you and others we are reaching for the first time – we are glad we found you!

Our 20th High School reunion is scheduled for July 3rd & 4th at the Burley Inn. It’s going to be a very informal get-together without presentations or slide shows - hopefully just a bunch of us rekindling old friendships.

But we need your help! We had a big class and still don’t have contact information for a lot of people. Please review the list of classmates below who we don’t have contact information for. If you do have an email address for someone we haven’t been able to track down, please get that information to Angela (Herbold) Butcher at angela@aaronbutcher.com.

Let me know if you do NOT plan to attend and if you would like me to remove you from this email distribution list. For those of you who DO plan on attending the reunion, below is some information you will need.

Important Dates

June 20th – (extended from June 12th) Deadline to RSVP by sending your check ($25 per person) to Julio Garcia, 980 Diestel Road, Salt Lake City, UT 84105.
Make the check payable to Julio Garcia (please write “High School Reunion” in the memo field of your check).

July 3rd – 6:00 pm Burley Inn Poolside Courtyard Drinks and Social (no food will be served, just an open bar to purchase your own drinks and to mingle).

July 4th – 5:30 pm Burley Inn Dinner & Celebration. (We originally had a menu to select from, but due to some menu changes from the Burley Inn, we'll be providing a buffet instead. Sorry for the confusion.)

Kids
We’ve had a couple of inquiries about whether we’re having a family event where everyone can bring their kids. I’m sorry to say that we are not organizing a separate family event. In our effort to keep the reunion easy and low key, we opted for only the Friday night social and Saturday night dinner.

Dress
Casual - of course! But, make sure you've got your dancing shoes on as we've lined up a DJ to play some of our old high school favorites!

Hotel Accommodations
For anyone interested in renting a room at the Burley Inn, they will be offering a slight discount for our reunion attendees. If you make reservations in advance and let them know you’re with the Minico Class of 1989 they should provide you with a standard room at $81.99 per night.

MHS Class of 1989 is planning a 20 year reunion!

Dear Classmates:

It’s been nearly 20 years since we graduated from high school. You remember 1989, don’t you?

In 1989:

• Whitesnake's rocker David Coverdale weds actress Tawny Kitaen (we all remember that video, right?)
• Madonna's "Like a Prayer" premieres on worldwide Pepsi commercial (she’s still gyrating her way to the top of the charts!)
• Final TV episode of "Family Ties" airs (who else could worship President Nixon and make it funny?)
• "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" premieres (he’s baaack)
• Greg LeMond wins Tour de France in fastest time (Lance Armstrong was graduating from high school in 1989!)
• George Bush (senior) was sworn in as President (in 2009 junior will be on his way out!)

We’d like to bring the Class of 1989 together for a fun-filled gathering to commemorate the 80’s and to rekindle our friendships from so long ago.

At this time, we are tentatively planning for two events:

Friday, July 3, 2009 Drinks / Social at the outdoor pool area of the Burley Inn
Saturday, July 4, 2009 Dinner (maybe a dance?) at the Burley Inn

Please remember to save the date! We really hope to see as many people as possible at this reunion.

Hopefully the 4th of July weekend next year works well for most people. We figured this might be a good time for out-of-towners to make it to our old stomping ground. And for locals – well, no excuses - we really hope to see you there!

We don’t intend to have organized events, presentations or activities. Instead, we hope have a casual environment where we can simply catch up and have a good time together.

Once we gather enough email address for classmates, we will send out more information and gather RSVP’s as the date approaches next year.
